Hunting Tips from Nathan

With a little forethought and the right setting, you can have a safe, enjoyable, egg-hunt and bring home that perfect egg to mount on your wall!


The most important decision is choosing a guide. I find that Nanas work very well.




Choosing the right equipment is also imporant. I use a fabric lamb basket which allows for quick stooping.


Be wary of predators!





Only go for one egg at a time. If you chase two, both will escape.











Eggs can be tricky! Sometimes they will hide at your feet and other times over your head.










Be sure to always lift with your legs and not your back!






Never count your eggs in the field. There'll be time enough for counting when you get home.

Daddy brought home an Easter basket for Nathan.

FFFF#74 Expressions

This week's Friday Family Fun Foto Challenge is "Expressions". I'm fascinated with my son's expressions and like to capture them all. They are subject to change without notice in a brief period of time. This change is inevitable because he is two years old.

The above photo is how we always love to see Nathan. Smiling and happy to be with his Mommy and Daddy.



We enjoy seeing these friendly and playful expressions.



















Curious and playful expressions are good.















This up-to-no-good expression does not bode well.





This is his what-can-I-get-into-now expression.



















This expression means that his feelings are hurt because he didn't get his way. It is usually accompanied by aimless circles.



















And finally, the furious tantrum expression which precedes the throwing of himself on the ground followed by a time-out session until he comes back with a more pleasant expression.



No worries though. He'll be back to the super-happy expression without notice.

Update on Nathan

Nathan completed his first two weeks in the two-year-old room at daycare. I was informed this morning (why so late, I don't know) that he has been getting angry and throwing his cup and bowl at the teacher. I was horrified. I don't know how to correct the problem when I don't see him for so long after it happens. He doesn't dare do that at home.

He still isn't trying to talk much but he is imitating sounds more. He has begun to nod "yes" and shake his head "no" when we ask him questions. It's a HUGE help to get even this little communication from him. He continues to sign as well.

Last night we had to sit in the hallways for an hour because of the tornado sirens. Nathan actually did pretty well. He seemed to think it was funny being crammed in there with the four cats and four dogs. I can't believe this winter. It has been so ridiculous everywhere in the US.

Meeting Mickey Mouse!

We have dozens of pictures of our trip to DisneyWorld but I haven't sorted through them yet. Here are the ones of Nathan meeting Mickey. Above is his first impression. Then after he investigates Mickey's nose, bowtie, and shoes, he decides that Mickey is okay and gives him a big hug.








Nathan can say "Mickey". It sounds like "INH-EEH" when he says it but we know what he means.

First Warm Day

Today we got outside for the first time this year. It only lasted for a day but we were grateful for the warmth. I realized at the end of the video I have to be quicker around my toddler.
